Why Is PlanHub Listed as the General Contractor?
We understand how important it is to have access to as many bidding opportunities as possible. To help expand the number of projects available on planHub, you may occasionally receive an Invitation to Bid (ITB) or find a project where planHub is listed as the General Contractor. Here's why!
Why Does This Happen?
Our Research Team continuously identifies new project bidding opportunities and adds them to planHub as early as possible. In some cases, a project is discovered before the General Contractor(s) have been confirmed or added to the listing.
To make these opportunities available right away, the project is published with planHub temporarily listed as the General Contractor.
Because these projects have not yet been assigned to a specific General Contractor, the Invitation to Bid email is unique and does not include General Contractor contact information.
Once the research team obtains the bid list, the General Contractors will be added to the project and the planHub contact card will be removed.
What Should You Do?
When you click the link in the invitation to bid email, you'll be taken directly to the Project Page where you can review and qualify the opportunity.
If you'd like to track the project, select the option to save it to the Bid Board.
What Happens Next?
Our team actively works to identify and add the General Contractor(s) who are bidding the project. Once the first General Contractor has been confirmed and added:
- The planHub company card is removed.
- The confirmed General Contractor(s) become visible on the project.
- You can then submit your bid directly to the appropriate General Contractor(s).
If a General Contractor later chooses to post their own version of the project with specific trade packages, bid requirements, or project documents, you may receive an additional Invitation to Bid for that same project.
Government Projects
For Government projects, planHub may remain listed as the General Contractor throughout the bidding process.
In these cases, subcontractors and suppliers should review the project documents carefully, as they will contain the instructions for submitting bids, including where and how proposals should be delivered.
If the research team obtains a bid list of General Contractors, from the government entity, they will be added to the project and the planHub contact card will be removed. However, all project documents should be reviewed for specific instructions on submitting bids when the planHub contact card is present.
