Legends display your measurement names, symbols, and totals, helping your team and clients quickly understand the scope #### Adding a Legend 1. **Click “Markup”** in the primary toolbar floating in the center of your screen in Takeoff. 2. **Select “Legend”** from the dropdown menu. 3. A **Legend box** will appear in the center of your plan page. 4. In the **Measurements Panel** on the right, check the boxes for the measurements you want included in your Legend. - As you check or uncheck boxes, measurements are added or removed from the Legend in real time. 5. Click **“Save”** in the Measurements Panel to finalize your Legend. 6. If you change your mind, click **“Cancel”** to discard changes. > **Tip:** *If you don’t select any measurements, the Legend will be removed from your plan.* #### ![Legends](https://knowledgebase.planhub.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Legends.gif?width=688&height=371&name=Legends.gif) --- #### Editing Your Legend - **To make changes:** Click “Legend” from the toolbar again. The Measurements Panel will reopen with your current selections checked. Adjust as needed, then click “Save.” - **To move your Legend:** Click and drag the Legend box anywhere on your plan sheet. - **To resize your Legend:** Click the edges or corners of the Legend box and drag to resize. - **To delete your Legend:** Click your Legend and press the **Delete (DEL)** key on your keyboard. --- #### How Legends Display - Shows **only measurements visible** on the current plan page. - Each row in your Legend includes: - Measurement symbol and color - Measurement name - Quantity with units (e.g. 250 LF) - Legends automatically **scale** as you zoom in and out of your plan. - If text is too long, it will shorten with an ellipsis (e.g. “Wall Measu...”) - Legends are included in downloaded plan sheets, positioned exactly where you placed them. --- #### Frequently Asked Questions **Q: Will my Legend print when I download my plan?** A: Yes! Legends are included in downloaded and printed plans, exactly as placed. **Q: Why can’t I see all my measurements in the Legend?** A: If too many items are selected, your Legend may show a scrollbar or shorten text to fit.
