How to Send Emails to General Contractors Directly from PlanHub
How Subcontractors can communicate with General Contractors (GCs) more efficiently without leaving the PlanHub platform. By the end of this guide, you will be able to connect your professional email account to PlanHub and send direct project inquiries, such as an Intent to Bid or a Request for Information (RFI), in seconds.
Before You Begin
-
You must have an active PlanHub subcontractor account with Premier Plan access.
-
Ensure you have identified a project you wish to inquire about in the Project Finder.
-
Note: In Phase 1 of this launch, you can only send initial emails through PlanHub. All replies and ongoing thread management must be handled within your dedicated email inbox.
Step 1: Navigate to the General Contractors Tab
-
Open the Project Detail Page (PDP) for any project you are interested in. (In PlanHub, you can click on the project name to open the Project Detail Page)
-
Navigate to the General Contractors tab to view available GC contacts for the project.

Step 2: Compose and Send Your Message
-
Click on a GC’s email address to trigger the Compose Email modal
-
In the Compose Email modal, a pre-built template will display. You can edit this email however you’d like and add attachments.
-
Click Send.

Step 3: Connect Your Professional Inbox
-
Once you hit send, if you haven’t already, you’ll be prompted to connect your email account to PlanHub.
-
Follow the prompts to authenticate your email account.
-
Once authenticated, PlanHub will send emails directly from your personal address, not a PlanHub alias.

What Success Looks Like
You’ll know this worked when you see a "Message Sent" confirmation in PlanHub. Because this integration syncs with your provider, a copy of the message will also appear in the Sent folder of your email account.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
-
I don't see the GC's reply in PlanHub.
-
This is expected for Phase 1. You must check your personal email inbox to view and respond to replies.
-
-
My email won't connect.
-
Ensure that you have connected and authorized PlanHub to send emails on your behalf.
