 Subcontractors | How To Place A Bid

Learn how to quickly place and manage bids on planHub projects using the Quick Bid feature. This guide shows you how to submit bids, notify general contractors, and resend updated bids when needed, so you can stay competitive.

 

Step 1: Log into your planHub Subcontractor account.

Step 2: Navigate to Project Finder in the main panel to search for a project you want to bid on.

Step 3: Click the project to open the Project Details page.

Step 4: Review the plans, complete your takeoff, and save your bid documents to your computer.

Step 5: On the project details page, in the lower right corner, click the Submit Bid option.

Step 6: The Quick Bid pop-up window will open. Fill in the required fields marked with an asterisk.

Step 7: Select your Bid Trade and enter your Base Bid Amount.

Step 8: Type a message to the general contractors in the Message box.

Step 9: Upload your bid documents. Click Browse or select files from your PlanHub Drive. To learn more about your planHub Drive, view the Knowledge Base article: How-to Manage & Use Your PlanHub Drive

Step 10: Choose the general contractors you want to send your bid to from the list.

Step 11: To automatically send your bid to GCs added to this project in the future (before the bid due date), turn the toggle on. If you do not want to send it to GCs added, toggle it off.

Step 12: Click Confirm in the bottom right corner to submit your bid.


Set Up Bid Notifications

Step 1: Navigate to your My Account page located in the dropdown menu in the upper right corner.

Step 2: Click on the Notifications tab.

Step 3: View the option to receive email notifications when general contractors are added to a project.

Step 4: Toggle on the option in the action column to begin receiving these emails. This will keep you informed when GCs are added to projects.


Resubmit or Update Your Bid

Step 1: In the main panel, select Bid Board.

Step 2: Locate and click the project name for the bid you want to update or resend.

Step 3: In the lower left corner, view your current submission status. To send another bid or to resubmit a bid, click on the Submit Another Bid button in the lower right corner.

Step 4: Fill in all required fields, type in your message, and upload your bid documents in the Quick Bid window.

Step 5: Select the new or additional general contractors to receive your bid.

Step 6: Decide if you want the bid shared with any future GCs by toggling the option off or on.

Step 7: Click Confirm to send your bid.


Submit Bids Directly from Project Estimates (Takeoff & Estimation Add-On Tools)

If you have purchased the Takeoff & Estimation Add-On tools in planHub, you can submit a bid from the Project Estimates page. To learn more about project estimates in the Estimation Add-On tool, view the Knowledge Base article titled: Estimation Overview

Step 1: Navigate to and select the Takeoff option in the main panel.

Step 2: Select the project you want to bid on from the project list.

Step 3: Click on the Project Estimates tab.

Step 4: Once you have reviewed the plans, completed your Takeoff, and saved your bid documents, click Send to Bid Builder at the top of the screen to send your bid. From the dropdown menu, select Send Updated Estimates if resubmitting or the Open Bid Builder option to send the bid to an added GC.

Step 5: When sending an updated estimate, choose the estimate you would like to send and click Send Updates.

Step 6: To send a bid to a newly added general contractor, select Open Bid Builder.

Step 7: In the Quick Bid pop-up window, fill out all required fields with an asterisk, type in a message to the GCs, and upload your bid documents.

Step 8: Select the general contractor to receive your bid and click Confirm in the bottom right corner.


Track & Manage Your Bids after submission

Step 1: Navigate to the Bid Board to begin tracking your bid.

Step 2: Click the Track Bid quick access option to view and monitor bid status.
